PHOENICIANS

The first knowledge we have of the Phoenicians is that they were established in the land of Canáan in the early part of the third millennium b.c.

Ancient Phoenicia occupied the coastal strip of the present day states of Israel, the Lebanon and Syria. The Phoenicians were a population of merchants and seafarers who played an important role in the history of the ancient world, placing in contact the different nations of the Mediterranean and serving as intermediaries between East and West.
