FLAMENCO

From the 18th century we have documental references to the practice of flamenco and of its specialized interpreters. Flamenco singing and dancing was practised at family gatherings and at places of work, taking on a public dimension on being extended to taverns and festivals. As had occurred with other populations that arrived in Andalusia, the gypsies, with their particular manner of interpretation, created their Andalusian rhythms and sounds, causing the emergence of important contact between Andalusians and gypsies.
